Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Licensing/Country Manager* to spearhead the relaunch and management of our flagship pre-school entertainment brand, Pocoyo, in Spain and Portugal and all other children’s IPs to come in the future.

This is a pivotal role and requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in the consumer products industry. The ideal candidate will be a native Spanish speaker, based in Madrid, and possess a deep understanding of the local market both at retail and licensing level, through a vast network of contacts.

The role will work collaboratively with our content sales and marketing teams at our Head Office in Paris, our brand and creative team in Spain, and the digital-first teams in London. The role reports to our Head of Licensing based in London.

Responsibilities

  • Executing the consumer products strategy for Pocoyo and all other relevant IP in Spain and Portugal, aligned with Animaj’s 3 Year Master Franchise Plan and overall brand vision.

  • Collaborating closely with all internal stakeholders across London, Paris and Madrid to ensure alignment with global strategies.

  • Driving sales and revenue growth for the Animaj consumer products business in Spain and Portugal identifying and securing new licensing opportunities across various product categories and live experiences and retaining existing partners as required.

  • Forecasting and budgeting - quarterly and annual

  • Monitoring quarterly royalty reports and acting to improve sales position

  • Managing CMF from licensees as required to maximise sell-through at retail and brand exposure

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with licensees, retailers, and key industry partners.

  • Analysing market trends and consumer insights to identify new opportunities and optimise product offerings.

  • Overseeing the development and launch of new Licensing products, ensuring adherence to brand guidelines and quality standards.

  • Representing Animaj at all key industry events and conferences

  • Potential to expand responsibilities to include other Spanish-speaking territories in Latin America.

Preferred Experience

  • Must be based in Spain and be willing to travel within Spain and as business requires.

  • Native Spanish speaker with excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficient in English language

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the consumer products industry, with a proven track record of success

  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful consumer products strategies

  • Deep understanding of the Spanish and Portuguese consumer markets.

  • Extensive network of contacts within the licensing and retail industries in Spain and Portugal

  • Financial acumen – ability to analyse and translate numbers into a working plan

  • Excellent commercial and strategic approaches to problem solving and innovation

  • Proven experience of building effective relationships and collaboration across departments to achieve financial targets and joint goals

  • Strong leadership and team management skills

  • Resilient and nimble in an ever-changing landscape

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

  • Understanding of digital, social and physical retail store marketing

  • Computer literate including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children's brands

  • Experience in managing multiple territories and brands

Hybrid remote: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.
